Welcome to COCOON

Three-panel design featuring a German quote by Charles Darwin, artistic text about metamorphosis, and a table of contents with course and master thesis listings.

Catalogue and identity design for the graduation exhibition at HTWG Konstanz 21/22. The cocoon represents the study period – a warm and protected space to grow and unfold. The graduates have undergone a metamorphosis and are now ready to break out of the cocoon as shimmering beings.

The catalogue is protectively wrapped in translucent paper. It has to be torn open first to reveal its contents: a three-piece brochure. Inside, a variety of projects created during the semester is showcased, with the graduates' work as the main focus. The cover artwork is based on the closed cocoon.

Based on the idea of the study period as a safe space, we 3D-scanned all graduates in a "secured pose." The thin and hollow shell is then left behind, like a cocoon from a butterfly. To achieve this look, we post-composed a mix of different 3D renderings and the photograph we took during the graduate shoot.
